TRAUMA ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES IN PREGNANCY

TRAUMA ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES IN PREGNANCY

Approximately 10% of pregnancies can cause small and large trauma and injuries due to various reasons and unfortunately can have bad consequences for both mother and baby. The most common causes are motor vehicle accidents.

Causes of trauma in pregnancy:

- Car accidents
- Firearm injuries
- Drilling, cutting injuries
- Seat belt injuries
- Accidents of falls etc. due to loss of balance
- Attack and beating

Conditions that may develop due to trauma:

- Low
- Early birth
- Death of the fetus
- Separation of placenta (Detachment placenta)
- Injury and puncture of uterus with penetrating traumas
- Rarely fetus may be injured
- Injury to many organs related to the mother, spleen injury, etc.

In case of any trauma, accident, falls, bumps, burns, small or large during pregnancy, even if there is no complaint, you should immediately consult the hospital. If necessary analyzes and evaluations are necessary for both mother and baby, treatments will be performed.

As the fetus blood can be transferred to the mother's blood circulation due to trauma (fetomaternal hemorrhage), a protective needle is given in pregnancies with blood incompatibility (if the mother's blood group is Rh (-)).
If necessary, tetanus toxoid and vaccine is given.

Use of seat belts during pregnancy:

The seat belt, which runs directly over the belly, can cause pressure and trauma to the abdomen during sudden braking. The seat belt should be worn through the lower abdomen and shoulders through the middle of the chest.
